A very helpful website

Hello all !

This is a very good website about the basics of character rigging. The tutorials are under the "Free Stuff" menu.

Each step is clearly explained, accompanied by helpful pictures. Topics include "Spine Setup" and "Reverse Foot Lock", etc.

It is designed for us newbies. Check it out!

Page Turn Animation

Okay, now this is really cool. This very short, very easy to follow tutorial shows you how to make a page turn in Maya using a skeleton. It goes through creating the nurbs plane, setting up the joints, binding them together, setting keys for the joints, painting skin weights, and even adding more pages. Again, you can download the completed scene file at the end of the tutorial. Enjoy!

Wet Shader

Hey all
Since I didn't do a post last week in time, this one is for last week, and hopefully I'll find another one soon for this week. Anyway, here's a quick tutorial on how to make a shader that looks wet. I figured that'd be useful for a lot of people one way or another. Anyway, the tutorial itself is really short, although it's not very detailed and it can be a little confusing. But at the end of the tutorial he has a link to download the shader itself. Good luck!

Maya Hair

Hello All Again,

I didn't do a post last week in time, so that last post was for last week. Now this one is for this week. I had overheard some people interested in doing some hair tutorials, and I found this one and tried it in some of my free time. I had a difficult time with it, but I will admit my time was also limited. It really creates a neat effect for hair and I highly reccommend taking a look into it if you wanted to make hair that sticks out.

In case the link didn't work from the title here it is:

Have fun with it.

Keshan,

Making a shirt

Hello All,

So I was thinking about doing clothing with some of the other DVDs that the Prof gave us. Some of them are informative but largely not very helpful for specific clothing, beyond the tank top in one of the digital tutor lessons. There is a lot to making a good garment, so I thought I'd share this tutorial regarding making a shirt step by step with you all. I hope it can help you appreciate the work of a tailor or seemstress.

Here is the link if the title link didn't work
